Final Project - 3D Modeling
Week 12 - Week 14
Title: Cat Bot
Project Description:
This is a 3D model of a robot piloted by a cat, designed using Autodesk Maya. The robot has a capsule-like body, arms and legs, and a cockpit helmet shaped to fit a cat with distinct ear-like antennae. The design mixes mechanical and cute elements, aiming for a sci-fi but friendly appearance.
Moodboard and References:
I got the idea for this robot by mixing two things: a cute robot design I saw on Pinterest and the lucky cat (Maneki-neko), which is a symbol of good luck. The robot I saw had a round and friendly shape, and I liked how simple and cute it looked. I thought it would be fun to add a lucky cat inside the robot, like it's the pilot. That’s why the robot has cat ears and a soft, toy-like style. The final design is a mix of something cute, lucky, and a little futuristic.

Short Reflection on What I Learned:
Through this project, I learned how to combine organic and mechanical forms in 3D modeling. I improved my skills in hard surface modeling, symmetry workflows, and materials setup in Autodesk Maya. I also practiced rendering techniques to ensure the model looked clean and readable, even with a minimalistic color palette. This helped me understand the importance of balance in design making something that is both functional and visually appealing.
